This dress is an homage to Diane de Poitiers. As a young widow, Diane chose to wear all black for the rest of her life, while all of the fashionable women of court chose more extravagant, colorful dresses. But she felt that black was a uniquely flattering color, pioneering the 'little black dress' almost 400 years before Coco Chanel.
