A Girl and A Gun
"All you need to make a movie is a girl and a gun" -- Jean-Luc Godard
This collection was inspired by French and Italian movies from the 60s. Anna Karina in Pierrot Le Fou, Monica Vitti in La Notte, Jane Birkin in La Piscine, Brigitte Bardot in Le Mepris. Each piece was meant as a modern interpretation of the style and spirit of the New Wave movement.
In this collection, we particularly wanted to explore the motif of innocence in the female characters of the French New Waves films, the perception, manipulation, and even mockery of feminine innocence and purity. The contrast between the characters playful, even girlish, style and their cynical, bordering psychopathic actions is fun to think about when you're getting dressed.
